Facebook Feature Request: Batch Delete App Invites
Have you ever felt overwhelmed by invitations from friends on Facebook asking you to try new apps?
Especially if you’ve got a huge friends list, you might be plagued by that problem, as is my pal Andy Wibbels, who says:
I have over ninety invites from friends to add little widgets and thingies to my profile. I really don’t want to junk it all up. But I have to click each one separately. That sucks.
He’s got a solution though: Facebook should make it so you can batch delete the app invites. I think that’s pretty smart and definitely would be a value adding feature. What do you think–could anyone else use this as a new feature?

Got ‘Facebook Fatigue’? Social Networks’ Popularity Declines
Well, I hate reporting this, seeing as though this is Social Platform Journal and all
but the web analytics outfit comScore says that social networks are staring to lose their appeal, particularly MySpace, Bebo, Friendster and even the social network darling Facebook.
From Creative Capitol:
But the pain is not just a MySpace problem. It seems to be an industry-wide issue. The total audience of U.S. social networks seems to be stuck at a low-to-mid-single digit growth rate, while the engagment metrics are falling for just about everyone. Time spent on Bebo.com has been sliced in half over the last four months, while Friendster’s time spent has plummeted nearly 75% in the same time period. Overall, minutes spent per site fell 5% in December 2007 compared to the year-ago period.

Who Are The Most Web 2.0 Savvy Presidential Candidates?
Social platforms are playing a huge role in the political world, both for the voters trying to gather information or express opinions, and also for candidates who wish to get their two cents out to their younger, web savvy constituents.
No longer can anyone use the excuse “I didn’t vote because I didn’t have enough information about the candidates.” The truth is the information we have is bubbling over.
Which candidates are the most tech savvy?

Developing A Facebook Application using Ruby on Rails
This seems really geeky to me but I think it’s a neccesary evil for some folks out there. A how-to on creating a facebook application on Ruby on Rails. That’s all I have to say since I’m not that geeky.

Almost Time For Spring Cleaning on our Facebook Profiles
Sometimes I get annoyed at people’s 47 mile long facebook profiles. They take so long to load and sometimes they even bork my firefox. I try to avoid the place as much as possible. Well hopefully before spring we will have the chance to clean it up according to AllFacebook, who says that a Profile Clean Up Tool is on the way.
Facebook has posted about a new profile clean-up tool that they will be launching in the coming weeks. Following countless complaints about profile clutter and application overload, Facebook has developed an application similar to the Windows desktop auto-cleaner. The application will automatically keep Facebook’s applications as well as the top 12 applications that you have installed on your profile.
All other applications will be automatically deleted. Say goodbye to the “long-tail” of applications. I have a feeling that there will be significant backlash from a few application developers that are unhappy to see their user base drop drastically. Additionally, the number of applications that you can display by default in your profile will be limited to 12 applications. Rather than displaying all applications it will now display 12 and display a link that says “Show Extended Profile.”

Bebo dusts off The Platform
Bebo has finally opened up it’s social networking platform for developers to create applications similar to Facebook Applications, I wonder if they will have a similar or better level of success as folks have had on Facebook.
This is a big day for developers. The Bebo platform has just launched for all developers. Get ready for the massive influx of new applications launching on the platform within the first few days. I will most definitely launch my own applications as I’m sure will all other developers that previously had successful applications. This is also a great opportunity for those that didn’t experience the same success that a select few experienced on the Facebook platform.

The Facebook Desktop Mini Client
I recently stumbled on to The Facebook Desktop Client, it looks really handy as I don’t really like to head over to facebook and check very minute what’s going on inside my facebook account. This client does all that for me so I can focus being obsessive compulsive somewhere else. Like on work, or this website.
